Martinez Capital Campaign a Huge Success
Loaves and Fishes (LFCC) has relocated both its Martinez dining room location and its administrative offices to 835 Ferry Street in Martinez. The new facility is the result of a two year search to find a new location where we can provide additional services. The new building was acquired by David Deutscher, a board member and benefactor of Loaves and Fishes. With support from the Lesher Foundation, the Thomas J Long Foundation, The Ludell Deutscher Charitable Trust and Faye and Sandor Straus as well as many others individuals and businesses we remodeled the building to suit our needs and had enough left over to exercise our option to purchase the building. We closed escrow on December 29, 2015 and our now the proud owners.
With the success of the capital campaign we were looking at a shortfall in operating capital for the current year until we had the wonderful news that a former supporter, Susanne Katherina Graeger, left us a generous bequest of over $120,000.
We used a portion of the funds to help with the down payment on 835 Ferry Street and the remainder to balance the operating budget for 2015-2016. Everyone at Loaves and Fishes owes this generous lady a huge thank you. Her memory will live on at Loaves and Fishes.
