LFCC will expand services to reach more people in need throughout Contra Costa County.
Over the past year, LFCC has evaluated the best means to expand our services in 2022 to reach more people in need living in Contra Costa County who cannot travel to our dining rooms. We now have an approved expansion plan to increase our capacity by adding a mobile unit. A mobile delivery vehicle is the best way to maintain flexibility to reach any community with greatest need, a greater number of communities throughout the week, and also to pilot partnership efforts to leverage existing resources and relationships to open doors to those in need.
Our first priority is to launch a 6-month pilot with 1-2 initial partners utilizing the mobile distribution vehicle. In 2022, we will continue to expand our services by utilizing LFCC’s untapped kitchen capacity and by hiring additional staff. This will enable LFCC to deliver meals in the late afternoon to partners’ sites in communities with the greatest need.
LFCC plans to further expand its mobile capacity by purchasing a new food-truck style vehicle which will provide new capacity and enable flexible approaches to service delivery. Also, a food-truck style vehicle with “serving windows” and insulated food cambros allows for easy, direct meal distribution without complicated set-up and clean up.
