SUMMER 2023 EXPANSION PLAN UPDATE
With inflation and CalFresh food assistance declining, we are seeing a surge in demand for food this year. The need has risen sharply, and your support is more critical than ever. More and more people are seeking Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa’s services including many seniors, families (many with young children), low income individuals and the homeless.
Adapting to our community’s needs takes agility. LFCC is preparing to meet the increased demand and to expand its services by utilizing its new mobile unit to deliver hot and nutritious meals to areas where individuals have the greatest unmet need over the next fiscal year to quickly pivot and adapt to the food crisis.
We cannot fulfill our mission alone. We need the community to come together to help others. Unfortunately, charitable giving has declined in 2022, a drop of 10.5% when adjusted for inflation. The decline comes at a time when many nonprofits such as LFCC, which provide services to those in need, have an increase in demand for assistance.
