Come and join our Culinary Arts Program! Loaves and Fishes offers a 12-week free culinary program for individuals wanting to learn how to work in the culinary industry and are looking to work in the industry. Our program will teach you basic culinary skills needed to qualify as a candidate for a starting position within the Culinary Industry.
The program includes training in the basics of a commercial kitchen, job retention and life skills. Our vision is to provide better preparation opportunities for students to obtain jobs that will lead to true careers and financial independence. Students will also be introduced to the robust Culinary Arts program at Diablo Valley College and be provided help in obtaining jobs in the culinary field. Upon completion of this class each student will have earned the requisite Safety and Sanitation License (ServSafe Certificate) required by law for all food related service workers.
Our Culinary Training Program Director is Kenya Bishop. She is a native of the San Francisco Mission District, and that environment fostered her appreciation for vibrant arts and culture. Kenya received her culinary training at Mission Language Vocational School, and she has been working in the culinary field for more than ten years. Caribbean food, especially from Puerto Rico and Jamaica, is her favorite style of cuisine. When she think of preparing and sharing food, she thinks of celebration, nourishment, and good health.
