GRANOLA FOR GOOD:
BARBARA GERTZ’S HEARTWARMING CONTRIBUTION

A heartfelt thank you to Barbara Gertz for her dedication to delivering approximately 85 lbs of granola to the Loaves and Fishes Dining Rooms four times a month. The clients are immensely appreciative and eagerly anticipate receiving the fresh granola, thoughtfully wrapped in compostable bags.

Barbara’s commitment to volunteering spans various organizations focused on food sustainability and equity. “Eating healthy and delicious food should not be a privilege,” Barbara states.

Under the umbrella of Players Philanthropy, Barbara has launched a dedicated charitable project, “You Had Me at Granola.” This initiative supports qualified philanthropic missions and aims to provide energizing, healthy food to those in need.

In its inaugural year, “You Had Me at Granola” has made significant strides. Barbara and her team of volunteers utilize the kitchen at Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church to bake granola weekly, filling the space with mouth-watering aromas. They prioritize creating healthy granola that is free of major allergens, using high-quality oils and achieving a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors.

Barbara’s innovative approach is truly making a difference, ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious and delicious food.
